Coaching for Managers at Time of Change (Two Days)

Target audience:  Managers in Motorola

Program Objective:

  • Equip managers with the right coaching skills for
  • Guiding employee in their career development
  • Increasing influence to business and leaders in various aspects
  • Accelerating the development of young leaders by coaching and mentoring

Learning objectives:  At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand self and mindset of the coach
  • Start to practice coaching in the work place and for SP’s own success
  • Capture different levels of listening
  • Help employees and business partners with  supportive intention through coaching
  • Learn from self and others’ coaching experience  to develop coaching competencies

 

Proposed Program Structure
Day I: Module 1 - 5

Module 1: What is coaching?

      • What distinguishes coaching from other terms?
      • Key characteristics of a coaching relationship
      • Benefits of coaching: for coaches and organizations
      • Mindset of a coach

Module 2: Coaching at Work Model
Key competencies

      • Defining objective of coaching - Coaching for performance, coaching for competency, coaching for career management
      • Prepare your mindset before going into a session

Module 3: Active Listening – Coaching starts from Listening

      • Introduce 3 levels of listening
      • Practice listening skills in group

Module 4: Coaching Model and Styles

      • Introducing GROW model
      • Plan your session and questions  
      • Partner practice (15 minutes each)

Module 5: Coaching for performance

      • Coaching for Competencies
      • Cases  

Reflection

      • Importance of reflection for leaders
      • Reflect for the day and journaling

Homework

 

Day II: Module 6 - 8

In groups: Summarize key benefits, challenges, and questions by group
Share in class – What is the challenge and how will your group address them?

Module 6: Coaching for career management

Practice in groups using the model taught

Reflection and forming your own style

Module 7: EQ Introduction

      • what is and is not EQ
      • how our brain works and how it relates to EQ
      • Action Steps to increase our EQ competencies

Module 8: EQ tools for coaching

      • T-F-A exercise
      • Mask exercise

Putting it together - Coaching evaluation by peers

Reflection: Summary of experience and learning
