Power Coaching (3 day program, includes first day of Power Dynamics)
This workshop is about coaching people living in the context of organizational systems. In it, we distinguish between thinking about who the person is – which is core to most theories of coaching – and who the person is within the context of a dynamic system. We call our approach Power Coaching.
Key Insights
- Fills a gap by training coaches to see individuals, groups, teams, and whole organizations in a complex system terrain.
- Using human systems framework to diagnose the challenges and opportunities facing their clients more clearly and more rigorously
- Once coaches see the system forces, they will be able to teach clients to see those forces as well.
The result: more competent coaches and more personal and organizational effectiveness for the clients they serve.
Purpose
In our experience, most of our clients are:
- Unaware of the systemic nature of the situation
- Interconnectedness of the forces and factors impinging on them and the organizations they care about are unseen
This workshop provides context, models, and specific intervention suggestions that coaches can draw upon to address the needs of a large, and ever growing, clientele.
Power Coaching is designed to help coaches integrate theory and practice; it is both a “Why To” and “How To” workshop. Power Coaching is fundamentally about power – about helping individuals feel and act powerfully by developing systemic strategies and behaviors that enable them to make things happen in their systems. It is about learning to view the challenges and complexities of organizational life systemically instead of interpersonally, making it possible for clients to think creatively and analytically about what needs to be done to create change.
